Anti-terrorism efforts progress in Mindanao

Quezon City (25 June 2005) -- Decades-long disputes by Islamic separatists in Mindanao are slowly being resolved through peace talks.

The government's efforts to reach a peaceful Mindanao is slowly progressing, this was observed by visiting United States Deputy Secretary Robert Zoellick during a state visit to the Philippines.

In a press conference held recently, Zoellick revealed that he had met with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and other Philippine officials to discuss economic, political and security issues.

The government efforts of rebel reintegration of former Moro National Liberation Front members is successful.

He hoped to provide the Philippines with more funding assistance but saying that it will depend on the progress of the Mindanao negotiating process. (Beat-the-Odds Infobits Service)
