3 robbers hit Caltex (Sept 3, 2003 - Bohol Chronicle)
Three unidentified robbers struck anew victimizing a Caltex station near HNU at upper J.A. Clarin Street, carting away P25,000 yesterday afternoon.
The suspects immediately fled around 2:15 p.m. boarding a red Aura motorcycle without plate number, going downtown Tagbilaran.
The five workers of the gasoline station owned by George Lim were helpless to detect the robbers’ motive since there was no security guard fielded by the establishment.
Police said the robbers disguised themselves as customers availing of the washing service. One of them suddenly held at gunpoint Michael Cagas, a washer.
The gun used was reportedly wrapped with a cloth but it cannot yet be confirmed if it was just a toy gun.
Police said the two female cashiers yielded the cash after they were threatened with a knife pointed to them by one of the robbers who also cut off the station’s telephone wire inside the cashier’s booth.
The other suspect served as lookout and driver of the motorcycle.
It took five minutes before one of the gasoline’s employees could notify the police using a residential phone nearby the station.
Unconfirmed reports bared that responding police operatives arrived 30 minutes late because they got lost their way locating the crime scene.
Earlier, City PNP Chief Col. Edgardo Ingking warned city businesses that robbers would strike anytime as December is approaching.
Ingking was earlier quoted as saying that banks could be prime targets of future heist in the city.
A week ago, a video rental shop and an internet café in the city were robbed by still unidentified suspects.
Unconfirmed intelligence reports have revealed there are robbers coming from Mindanao who are poised to strike here.
Meantime, Ingking has considered establishing a cellphone number through which the City PNP could be reached easily by the public. (Mike Ligalig and Wellie Maestrado)
