AUSTRIANS ZBYNEK Mlynarik and Luben Pampoulov scored contrasting victories yesterday to reach the semifinal round of the US$15,000 International Tennis Federation-Philippines Men's Futures Week 1 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Mlynarik, the third seed who is ranked No. 343 in the world, pulled off a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) victory over fifth seed Donovan September of South Africa to advance against second seed Danai Udomchoke of Thailand.

Udomchoke, the 19-year-old Davis Cupper who won by two legs in the US$25,000 India Satellite last June, defeated American qualifier Jonathon Beardsley, 6-3, 6-4, in the other quarterfinal match of this event offering US$1,950 in cash and 12 ATP points to the singles champion. - manila bulletin, 12/2000
