PGMA breaks her silence on controversial audiotapesby Aleli Aggasid-Batara
Laoag City (23 June 2005) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo promised Hongkong businessmen on Monday that she will respond on the allegations that she rigged the results of the previous election at the appropriate time.
The President assured the business community that she is not stonewalling but waiting for an atmosphere of sobriety while attending to more pressing problems in the country today.
She assured her audience that she won the presidential race and did not cheat her way to victory.
She further ascertained that she will finish her term on 2010 and implement much needed economic reforms for the development of the nation.
The administration has assured transparency in the investigation of the audiotapes by keeping the committee hearing open to the public.
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye and NBI Director Wycoco have honored the invitation of the committee to appear at the hearing.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Immigrations Commissioner Alipio Fernandez assured the public that there is no departure record for COMELEC Commisioner Virgilio Garcillano following purported reports coming from the opposition that he escaped from the country through the Southern backdoor. (PIA)
