640 Dagupan children complete Summer Sports Clinic
DAGUPAN CITY, June 1 (PNA) -- A Summer Sports Clinic sponsored by the city government through the Dagupan City Sports Commission (DCSC) graduated at least 640 children from public and private schools who completed training on various sports disciplines held in various venues in the city.

The closing ceremony was held at CSI Stadia on Monday graced by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, Schools Division Superintendent Froserfina J. Bravo and DCSC Commissioners Fenilla T. Sim, lawyer Lemuel Astadan and Nanoy Duque.

The summer sports clinic is only a part of the Building The Future: Developing Our Excellence in Sports or B.T.F. Does it program initiated by Mayor Fernandez.

The children were trained according to their choice of interest like in arnis, archery, chess, futsal, badminton, table tennis and swimming.

Archery is one of the newest sports introduced for the first time in the city.

“Archery has been made an integral part of the R1AA meet, but unfortunately we never had an entry in this field because we never had training on this. This is why we included this in our summer sports clinic and we are glad to say that, according to our trainors, we had several of our athletes who have the potential to win medals in this field,” said Sim.

On the same occasion, seven of the Balon Dagupan athletes, who won medals in the Palarong Pambansa in Legazpi City, Albay, received cash incentives along with their respective coaches.

The most decorated of them is Janelle Alisa Frances Lin, a Grade VI student of Genesis, who won in all the events that she joined in.

She won one gold medal in 50-meter free style swimming competition in the elementary level; three silver medals in 200-meter individual medley, 400-free style and 50-meter backstroke; and one bronze medal in 100-meter freestyle.

All in all, she received P7,400.00 as cash incentive.

Other Balon Dagupan swimmers who won include Sophia Rafaelle A. de Vera, a Grade VI student of La Marea, who won one bronze medal; Mark Bryan Rioflorido, Grade VI student of Lyceum Northwestern University, one silver medal; and Sean Iverson Fabiana of West Central 1 Elementary School, one silver medal.

Three of the Balon Dagupan athletes also won silver medals in the Demo Sports Basketball. They are Railey Lester A. dela Cruz of St. John Catholic School, Kristine Cayabyab and Jenilyn Gamboa, both of Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Memorial National High School. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
