Peace for Sudan and South Sudan

China welcomed Friday the announcement Sudan and South Sudan will resume talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia next week.

"We welcome the positive attitudes of both sides in resuming negotiations," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a press conference.

China hopes that the two sides will properly resolve pending issues through negotiations and in accordance with African Union guidelines and relevant resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council, he said.

Tensions have increased over recent weeks after South Sudanese forces moved into the oil-producing region of Heglig in Sudan's South Kordofan state, and Sudanese forces bombed South Sudanese territory.

The AU Peace and Security Council on April 24 issued a resolution asking the UNSC to support its demands for Sudan and South Sudan to cease fire within 48 hours, resume negotiations within two weeks and complete the peace agreement in three months.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
