With the recent 415 th Foundation Day of Baclayon, it became clear that the town was on another journey to more glorious and fruitful years as it successfully celebrated its humble beginnings last Thursday, November 17. With the theme “Baclayon, Our Legacy and Glory,” the festivity prepared by Mayor Alvin J. Uy and the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Jodel Theodore Cabahug was a day of fun-filled activities such as grand parade, civil mass wedding ceremony, games and cultural night. The major highlight of the celebration was the awarding of outstanding and best performing barangay officials who made it through the evaluation of the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO). Barangay Montaña was the biggest winner of the night as it bagged most of the major awards. Their barangay hall was adjudged as the best among the 17 barangays. The Post’s Rosendo B. Guingguing and Regina Mae Gatal were both awarded as Best Barangay Kagawad and Best SK Chairperson, respectively. Editha Revita came in second for the Best Barangay Treasurer Award.

Meanwhile, the Best Barangay Captain Award went to Laya chair Carlito Toong. Evelyn Maceren, also from Laya, claimed the Best Barangay Secretary Award. San Isidro’s Gliceria Beroy, on the other hand, won the Best Barangay Treasurer Award. No less than Gov. Edgar M. Chatto ang Cong. Rene L. Relampagos graced the d event together with First District Board Members Cesar Tomas Lopez and Venzencio Arcamo. Mayor Uy, in his message, thanked the Baclayanons for keeping the glory and legacy that his administration has started. Furthermore, Uy said that one of his projects is the continuation of the covered court in barangay San Roque that was started during former Mayor Benecio Uy’s administration. The mayor also announced that Cong. Relampagos would be giving five million pesos for the concreting of barangay roads from Landican to Tanday and another two million pesos for the expansion of the Baluarte. In addition to Mayor Uy’s earlier news, Cong. Relampagos, in his message, assured an additional one million pesos for the roofing of the municipal stage and PhP 150,000 for each barangay. Gov. Chatto and BMs Lopez and Arcamo pledged that they will also be allocating certain amounts for priority projects in Baclayon.
