Press Release: SON OF OFW, LATEST VICTIM OF AN ALLEGED EJK

NBI FORENSICS CALLED TO INVESTIGATE; UP COLLEGE OF LAW URGED TO WATCH OVER THE CASE

OFW solon calls on the forensics unit of the National Bureau of Investigation to immediately investigate the latest case of alleged shooting incident that led to the death of a son of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) mother.

ACTS-OFW Party-list Representative Aniceto “John” Bertiz, III said the NBI Forensics Unit has the expertise and technology to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of Carlo Angelo Arnaiz, a 19-year-old former University of the Philippines student.

Bertiz believes that the findings of the NBI shall help in the case build-up against the erring cops who are the alleged perpetrators of this latest Kian de los Santos-like anti-crime killing.

According to the report of the Caloocan police, Arnaiz flagged down a taxi cab in Navotas City. Arnaiz hit the driver with a pistol and took his wallet. The cab driver managed to ask for help from cops but Arnaiz fired at them, leading to a shootout which left the boy dead.

Though supportive of the anti-drug campaign of the PNP, Bertiz doubts the cops’ version of the incident and urges University of the Philippines President Atty. Danny Concepcion and the UP Colege of Law to keep close watch over this case.

“Kampante na sana ang OFWs na hindi malululon sa masamang bisyo ang kanilang mga naiwang anak sa Pilipinas dahil sa seryosong kampanya ni Pangulong Duterte laban sa ilegal na sa droga; kaso nga lang tila napapalitan na ito ng pangamba dahil sa nangyari kay Kian De los Santos, at pati dito kay Carlo Arnaiz. Nangangamba ang mga OFW na baka mangyari din sa mga kaanak nila ang sinapit ng dalawang binata.” Bertiz said.

Bertiz sympathized with the OFW mother of Kian and filed House Bill 6250 or “The Kian delos Santos Body Cam Act of 2017.” Bertiz explained that if the Caloocan City police had body cameras on them, we would have had clear video evidence now of how these operations happened and see who were responsible. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
