Running the
Tagbilaran City Airport is directed to a paradigm shift under a new manager starting yesterday.
Engr. Agnes Udang--who used to be the area manager of Center 6 of Mactan International Airport in Lapulapu City, Cebu--yesterday assumed as the new manager of Tagbilaran City Airport, replacing Ed Solis.
Solis has been reassigned as OIC of Ormoc City Airport, based on Authority 85-12 issued by Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Ramon Gutierrez.
Solis officially turned over the responsibilities to Udang yesterday.
Udang, concurrent officer of Tagbilaran City Airport, yesterday said that she might introduce some changes in the policies, especially on the guidelines in manning the traffic flow and decongestion of the parking and waiting area for vehicles in the airport vicinity.
For the meantime, she is still observing things to determine areas that need improvement.
Solis assured that Udang can sustain CAAP's rapport with the local media, being Cebuano-speaking from Cagayan de Oro City.
Solis, who had been airport manager here since November 2006, turned over the management of Tagbilaran Airport to Udang with two problems down—the congestion of passengers and lack of ventilation at the terminal.
This, as works on the P32-million expansion and rehabilitation of the terminal building finally commenced this month which he had been proposing since 2009.
Solis said the project will take the contractor--the Albay-based Verzontal Builders--180 days or six months to finish, but he already ensured that the ongoing works at the terminal area will cause no much inconvenience to the passengers and safety in the area maintained.
Solis and Udang explained that the reshuffle of area managers of CAAP, though not a regular routine, facilitates promotions in positions.
Solis said there is no fixed term for a manager's assignment to an area, but CAAP would usually reshuffles managers to improve airport services by bringing out helpful ideas that a manager from another area can introduce to a new assignment.
