In its committed effort to provide health and medical service opportunities to the Boholano community, the Provincial Government of Bohol thru Governor Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Governor Julius Caesar F. Herrera is leaning no stone unturned in paving the way for another big medical mission to be offered for the Boholanos at the start of the first quarter of the new year.
Mrs. Fancy S. Baluyot- Consultant, Health & Social Services advised that a team of Filipino and American doctors and nurses from Texas, USA headed by Dr. Gloria Zappia; Kaiser Permanente Hospital-Ucla headed by Dr. Scott Lentz and Yale College of Medicine numbering to 100 missioners is set to conduct a week long Medical and Surgical Mission on January 17-21, 2010 here in the province of Bohol. The group aims to provide free medical services and surgical operations simultaneously at Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital thru Chief of Hospital, Dr. Nenita M. Po and Bohol Cultural Center to benefit thousands of Boholano indigent patients.
SP Committee on Health Chairman, Dr. Cesar Tomas M. Lopez added that the abovementioned scheduled free mission will include corrective surgical operations for goiter, myoma, ovarian cyst, hernia, gall bladder and colostomy numbering to 120 cases. The activity is set to cover 8,000 medical and 1,000 dental cases of pre-screened beneficiary.
Acting Provincial Administrator, Atty. Handel Lagunay likewise advised that free health services and medicines are also set to be provided to indigent beneficiaries on the scheduled medical mission days sponsored by the Provincial Government Of Bohol assisted by the Philippine Gift of Life thru President and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Fancy S. Baluyot supported by the Department of Health thru DOH Secretary, Dr. Francisco Duque III and Assistant Secretary, Dr. Elmer G. Punzalan among other support group and volunteers headed by Atty. Tomas D. Abapo, Jr.
