Bohol Chronicle - With black propaganda becoming a favorite pastime of certain political figures campaigning ahead of the 2013 elections,
Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto again calls on the public to be wary of misleading statements, particularly those coming from his detractors.
“Again and again, our critics are using black propaganda as election tool to malign our reputation and I am sure the public, by now, are becoming more circumspect on what to believe,†said Chatto during his weekly media forum, “Kita ug ang Gobernador†on Friday.
The governor addressed two issues being thrown against him mainly by Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim that the escape of fugitive Exequil Aniscal from the Bohol District Jail last May 17 had his imprimatur and that the transport of “hot logs†using a military vehicle was authorized by the governor.
Chatto said these allegations are false and meant to mislead the public and obviously politically motivated.
In fact, he has ordered concerned agencies to conduct an all out investigation into the two controversies.
Carina Aniscal Sale, elder sister of the BDJ escapee, was even present during the media forum at the People’s Mansion to personally appeal to the media and the public to stop persecuting her family on the issue that her brother’s escape had been instigated by Chatto’s camp in order to hunt down the governor’s political enemies.
Sale, who is an employee at the Capitol, said her brother had no interest of going after political figures in the province, nor any connections with Chatto and his political allies.
She also assured, over the radio program, Rep. Erico Aumentado and his family that her brother does not have any ill-intent against the lawmaker, whom the Tagbilaran mayor claimed is the prime target of Aniscal.
Last week, Chatto said he ordered DENR officers to investigate the cutting of acacia trees that were reportedly transported using an Army truck.
“It is not true that I have not acted on these cases. Clearly the mayor’s statements are derogatory and are desperate attempts to damage my reputation,†Chatto said.
