Two days before New Year I was in paradise, a paradise out of nowhere but somewhere.
How can a thing be nowhere but yet somewhere? That is what makes this paradise a must-see for executives needing a sabbatical; a must-see for families needing a genuine bonding; a must-see for anyone - individual or group - wanting adventure; a must-go-to-place for a sinner wanting a soul-searching and atonement; a must-go-to-place for one who just wants a piece of quiet and privacy; a place for communing with nature; a place to be near God and embrace Him in one's heart.
For the desperate, it's a place to catch hope and to wish ones desires in life, in the community and society. New Year being very close at that time, it was the perfect place for me to ponder and list my wishes for the Year 2008.
This paradise is the JayVee Long Beach Resort built on a sand bar about 20 minutes by a motorized pump boat Northeast of the fast growing Municipality of Talibon. It is only about five kilometers away from the double barrier reef where all sorts of fishes and corals are found to the divers delight.
It was through the courtesy of Mayor Juanario Item of Talibon that I and my team in the office were able to get a taste of this paradise.
According to Mayor Item JayVee started operation in August last year with only ten rooms to accommodate guests, a bar and restaurant that offer all sorts of spirits and sea foods that cater only to the palate of the gods. Five bamboo-made cottages provide additional comfort to day guests.
Mayor Item said he dreamt of expanding the resort but the delicate environment limits the carrying capacity of the resort and so he only plans of expanding the services and fun that any guest can enjoy.
Right now aside from frolicking in the sand or just enjoying the crystal clear water around, the guest can actually go island hopping, or go snorkeling in nearby JayVee Neptune dive site or the double barrier reef, go kayaking, gather all sorts of edible shells (about 15 kinds) that are found in a nearby mangrove that is being developed as shell garden.
On early morning guests can take a three-mile walk on the sand bar and just before or immediately after sunrise they can watch the birds of various colors and shape trying to catch their early "worms" in the shell garden.
At night one can choose to either sing at the videoke bar until his voice becomes hoarse, or, just lie on the sand and gaze at the stars and heavenly bodies during cloudless nights.
Soon JayVee will be able to accommodate Executive Trainings/seminars of not more than 15 participants.
JayVee Long Beach Resort is the best place to be when you just want to enjoy.
We will try to show you some pictures in the next issue since its management is still developing its website.
NOTES: Agora's wish list for 2008 while stargazing on the sands of JayVee's : A more peaceful Philippines and most peaceful Bohol; more investment locator in Bohol; more private-led tourism development in Bohol; a saner political climate for the country; less people getting hungry; more health-conscious people; more roof on the houseless head; abolition of the SK; less shameful exercise of the right of suffrage; more respect for human rights.
