Ombudsman indicts former Tawi-Tawi governor over SALN error
The Office of the Ombudsman has found probable cause to indict former Tawi-Tawi provincial governor Sadikul Sahali for his failure to comply with Section 8 of Republic Act 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees).
The Ombudsman ordered the filing of six Informations against Sahali for violation of Section 8 of R.A. 6713. Investigation revealed that respondent’s SALNs from 2007 to 2011 Sahali were not subscribed before a notary public, with the 2012 SALN unsigned by Sahali. It was also found that the SALNs were submitted way beyond the April 30 deadline.
Under Section 8 of R.A. No. 6713, “public officials and employees have an obligation to accomplish and submit declarations under oath of, and the public has the right to know, their assets, liabilities, net worth and financial and business interests including those of their spouses and of unmarried children under eighteen (18) years of age living in their households.â€
