Dinagyang Festival’s “Tambor, Trumpa, Martsa, Musika†showcases healthy competition among public schools in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY, Jan. 8 (PNA) – Public schools serve as forerunners in this year’s “Tambor, Trumpa, Martsa, Musika†competition of the 2016 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival, according to acting city schools division superintendent Clarissa Zamora.
“We have no participation from private schools although our guidelines say that this competition is open to public and private schools in the city, she explained.
The competition will kick off the three-day highlights of the festival on January 22, Zamora said.
Twelve elementary schools from the city and province of Iloilo will vie for the championship crown for the drum and lyre competition while three secondary schools will compete in the drum and bugle category.
“This activity is held to develop the personality of our children by way of showcasing their skills on drum, lyre and bugle,†she added.
Moreover, the facilitator hoped that the competition will promote camaraderie and improve participants’ interpersonal relationship.
“This also promotes tourism because this showcases culture, way of life and even talented skills of our people in Iloilo,†she added.
Winning schools will bring home cash prizes from the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc (IDFI). (PNA)
