An audience with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and commemorative rites at the President Carlos P. Garcia Highway (formerly C5) in Taguig City this Tuesday July 14 top bills the Manila leg of the Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) before homecoming balikbayans fly to
Bohol for the celebrations.
Boholano organization based in Manila, the Boholano Association of Metro Manila Inc. (BAMMI) through its president ascertains that the crowd of balikbayans could also attend the wreath laying rites at the foot of the monument of Boholano and former Philippine President Carlos P. Garcia in Taguig, Provincial administrator Tomas Abapo said during the weekly The Governor’s Reports Friday.
According to the Capitol lawyer, the Department of Tourism also invites the homecoming group for a luncheon before proceeding to the Malacanang Heroes Hall for the president’s meeting.
The TBTK however does not start in Bohol until July 16, when the formal registration and the daily activities for the homecoming start until July 26 when the group gives out recognition rites to outstanding Boholanos.
The TBTK has become a vital development partner for
Bohol development with balikbayans investing their money and time to help Bohol.
Aside from the usual investment forum and business matching activity, the TBTK also puts in various medical and dental missions, related community development projects, parades, reunions, trade fairs puts in a recognition night for outstanding residents or balikbayans.
On the recognition night of the TBTK July 26, the governor is reportedly handing out the prestigious Datu Sikatuna Award to ten outstanding Boholanos, says Capitol spokesperson June Blanco.
This as Boholanos await the biennial homecoming of Boholanos to discuss on development initiatives and possibly fund some of the priority projects here as identified by the provincial Government.
The TBTK was a concept made into reality when past local leaders saw the need to engage the private sector, especially better-off
Boholanos abroad to help the government fund development here.
Following the first successful gatherings, investors have been coming in droves confident that the money they invest here is well managed by a tandem of the government and private sector partners. (PIA)
