Two lawmakers from the House of Representatives on Monday lauded the gains cited by President Benigno S. Aquino III in his State of the Nation Address, saying the country is moving in the right direction and all-out support from Congress should be given to his administration's reform agenda in order to capitalize on these gains.

Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara particularly praised the President and his education team for “putting where their mouths are.”

During the SONA, President Aquino underscored that backlogs in chairs and textbooks, amounting to P2,573,212 and P6.17 million respectively, will be answered by the end of 2012. The President likewise said that the shortage in classrooms, amounting to P66.800 billion, will be answered by 2013.

Angara, who chairs the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, noted that the administration is asking for a larger budget for the Education Department in 2013 amounting to P292.7 billion – an amount representing an increase of 60 percent compared to the 2010 allotment of P177 billion.

The young legislator also lauded the gains made in other equally pressing areas like good governance and employment generation, among others that point to how we as a country are moving in the right direction and making improvements in the right places.

“There is so much momentum for change to capitalize. All the more should we work doubly hard to enact the reforms we seek," Angara said.

For his part, An Waray Partylist Rep. Florencio Noel said that President Aquino’s SONA, in effect, exhorted lawmakers to help in the pursuit of his administration's reform agenda.

“The President gave us clear guideposts - that we can work together in creating more jobs, building more hope, and giving more opportunities for our people,” he said. - PNA

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
