PDEA files charges vs drug den maintainer, 8 others in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 1 (PNA) -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 9 has filed charges against eight people, including an alleged drug den maintainer, who were arrested in an anti-drug operation in this city.

PDEA Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio on Wednesday said the charges filed against the suspects were for violations of several provisions of the Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The provisions the suspects have violated were as follows: Section 5 (Selling of Illegal Drugs) in relation to Section 26 (Conspiracy); Section 6 (Maintenance of Den); Section 7 (Visitor of Den); Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs); Section 13 (Possession of Illegal Drugs During Gatherings); Section 14 (Possession of Paraphernalia During Gatherings); and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs).

Aspacio named those charged as: Nearesa Cervantes, 50, alleged drug maintainer; Judy Tan, 51, alleged cohort of Cervantes; and Cervantes’ visitors namely Sol Estino Solaiman, 32; Marichu Nishimoto, 37; Jason Modanza, 22; Erickson Climaco, 35; Reynaldo Garcia, 39; Marlon Macatangay, 38; and, Reneboy Gasoh, 45.

Aspacio said the suspects were arrested after Cervantes sold a sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in exchange for PHP500 in a buy-bust operation at the suspected drug den in Boholano Drive, Barangay Camino Nuevo, this city.

He said confiscated from the drug den were 15 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, prohibited drug paraphernalia and the PHP500 marked money.

He said the confiscated shabu weighed 20.5 grams with PHP150,000 estimated market value.

He said they gathered information that the drug den has an estimated income of PHP10,000 to PHP15,000 daily and receives around 40 to 50 clients a day. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
