Press Release
RANKING SOLON URGES PNP, DOJ TO SET 24-HOUR ULTIMATUM VS ATIO HAZING SUSPECTS
Massive nationwide manhunt should follow if suspects don’t turn over themselves to authorities – Rep. Salo
As Member of the House Committee on Justice, I call upon the Philippine National Police, other law enforcement agencies, and the Department of Justice to give the Atio Castillo hazing murder suspects a 24-hour ultimatum to surrender and to witnesses and persons of interest the same 24-hour deadline to cooperate in the investigation.
If they did not commit any wrong, then there’s nothing to fear. The legal process will vindicate them. If they participated in the illegal and brutal act, they should be human enough to face the consequences as that will ultimately define their person and their fraternity.
To the men and women of the justice system, I challenge you to make the Atio Castillo case a defining moment in the tragic history of hazing in the Philippines. Bring in all your expertise in ensuring that justice is served and that the perpetrators are placed behind bars.
To all fraternities and sororities, stop all hazing now. End hazing now. Never again. Never again. Hazing is torture.
If murder suspects don’t turn-over themselves, then the PNP should undertake a massive nationwide manhunt against the suspects. Let the resources of the government be spent in bringing justice to Atio and his family. (END)
