DTI CHIEF ON GROWING SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS: IDEA-BASED ENTREP, INNOVATION ARE KEYS.
Idea-based entrepreneurship and continuous innovation are crucial in growing a sustainable business, according to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez. During the Free Negosyo Seminar on 20 July in Las Piñas City, the trade chief stressed the government’s thrust to advocate growth of micro, small and medium enterprises at both local and regional levels. He also called on entrepreneurs to become smarter by embracing the positive entrepreneurial mindset and by finding ways to develop their offerings in the market. A partnership between DTI and Go Negosyo, the Free Negosyo Seminar aligns with the first three Ms of DTI’s 7Ms holistic strategy towards MSME development, namely, mindset, mastery, mentoring, money, machines, markets and models. Sec. Lopez also highlighted current DTI initiatives to bring government services closer to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs, including through Negosyo Centers, the micro-financing program Pondo Para sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso and shared service facilities. The seminar provided entrepreneurs free mentoring services in a bid to make them enablers of growth. Senator Cynthia Villar, Presidential Assistant for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion, other DTI officials and mentors from the private sector were also in the event.
