The Most Important Lesson of AllLast week I wrote: "You can screw up over and over and over again and still achieve success in whatever way you define success. You can create a life that has meaning and value no matter how many times you fail, no matter how many times you have to start over." However, I left out something important. Those sentences are only true until you give up. Of all of the lessons I've learned, of all of the "Success Triggers" I've experienced, not giving up is the most important of all. Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
