GMA NETWORK has filed a civil case against TV personality
Mo Twister for alleged breach of contract, and rival station TV5 for hiring the host despite his exclusive contract with GMA 7.
In a 16-page complaint, the network asked the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 217 to issue a temporary restraining order against Mohan Gumatay (Mo Twister’s real name), to prevent him from appearing in TV5 shows.
GMA 7 was particularly referring to TV5’s Sunday gabfest, “Paparazzi.â€
The TV network asked the court to order Gumatay to pay P1,040,000 – twice his compensation for one year for co-hosting GMA 7’s “Showbiz Central†– and P1 million in exemplary damages.
The host and TV5 were also asked to pay P1 million in attorney’s fees and P1 million in litigation expenses.
In the complaint, GMA 7 claimed it had an existing exclusive talent agreement with Gumatay, which he violated after he “rendered services to defendant TV5 as talent and initially appeared on the TV5 show ‘Paparazzi’ as host on May 15, 2010.†-PDI
