Hollywood veterans Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce the 85th Academy Awards ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced here on Thursday.
"Craig and Neil are forward thinkers who bring a unique perspective to the Oscar show," said AMPAS President Hawk Koch in a prepared statement. "Their enormous collective talent, coupled with their love of film, serves our show perfectly."
Zadan and Meron have been known for producing a number of critically-acclaimed and award-winning feature films, television movies, series and Broadway shows. They have won 73 Emmy nominations, 12 Tony nominations and seven Grammy nominations.
Aside from "Chicago" that garnered six Oscars from the 13 categories in which it was nominated, the pair also produced " Footloose" (2011), "Hairspray" and "The Bucket List."
The duo are also active on the television and stage scene. Their works include NBC musical drama "SMASH," Tony Award winner " How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and Grammy- winner musical comedy "Promises, Promises."
This will be the pair's first involvement with the annual Oscar event, according to the AMPAS.
The 85th Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood on Feb. 24, 2013.
