MANILA, Philippines — Wearing a Barong Tagalog and olive green cargo pants, “The Bourne Legacy†lead star Jeremy Renner Wednesday paid a courtesy call on President Benigno S. Aquino III in Malacañang.
Renner was accompanied by Daniel Stillman, executive production manager; Patrick Crowley, executive producer, and Filipino producer Jun Juban. They also wore Barongs during the call.
President Benigno S. Aquino III, upon arriving at the President’s Hall, remarked that the number of journalists had “doubled,†as he surveyed the packed room.
“The President thanked the visitors for choosing the Philippines and expressed the hope that this would lead to more film productions shot in the country,†PCDSPO Secretary Ramon Carandang said.
The Bourne Legacy production staff and actors, who had been filming in the Philippines for more than a month, received as a token from the President chocolates in a yellow and black box with the president seal and copies of the book on his inaugural.
In return, Renner and his companions gave the President three digital video discs (DVDs) of “Bourne Identityâ€, “Bourne Supremacy†and “Bourne Ultimatum,†as well as DVDs of “The Town†and “The Hurt Locker,†where he also starred.
“The producers of the latest Bourne movie expressed their admiration for the Philippine crew and producers for their professionalism and dedication,†Carandang said.
“They also thanked MMDA, OES (Office of the Executive Secretary), PCDSPO, DOT and PCOO for their help in making the filming experience easier. They were happy that they chose to film in Manila rather than the other locations they considered in Vietnam and Indonesia,†he said.
Scenes for “The Bourne Legacy†have been shot in Intramuros in Manila, the Navotas Fishport, the Marikina City Market, San Andres Market, Ramon Magsaysay Blvd., Ayala Ave. in Makati City, Nagtahan in Manila, Pasay Taft Ave. in Manila, Jones Bridge in Manila and in Palawan.
