ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 28 (PNA) -- The city health office here has revealed that a pregnant woman died of suspected meningococcemia at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).
Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, city health officer, on Tuesday said that the patient is a 19-year-old resident of Barangay Calarian.
Agbulos said the woman had fever managed at home and was taken to the ZCMC on the third day. She died a few hours after she was confined.
“When she expired, the diagnosis was probable case of meningococcemia with septic shock, which means that there is a strong infection going on in the body,†Agbulos said.
“We were no longer able to get a blood specimen for confirmation because the patient died. After death, you can no longer extract any blood,†he added.
