After Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Director Aster Caberte succeeded in pushing Central Visayas as partner region of International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines, DTI-Bohol, headed by Provincial Director Maria Elena Arbon, launched Friday last week the IFEX Partner Region Program in a whole-day conference at the Bohol Tropics Resort Club.
DTI takes the major role in IFEX Philippines with the cooperation with the Center for International Trade Exposition and Mission (CITEM) and the DOST-Packaging and Research Development Center of the Philippines (PRDCP).
“After nine to ten months, we expect the project to bear fruits for the benefit of our local small and medium entrepreneurs,†Caberte said in her opening speech.
At the end of the soft launching and orientation ceremony, delegates from local food manufacturers had a one-on-one consultation for the improvement of their packaging and promotion campaigns with DTI, CITEM and PRDCP officials.
Launching the IFEX Partner Region Program here aims to encourage Boholano small and medium-scale food manufacturing companies to take the opportunity of showing off their products to the global market during the expo on May 16-18 next year in Metro Manila.
The activity, as the “leading annual trade fair for the country's food industry and exportersâ€, features the Trendy Awards which, for some winners, serves as the “ticket to success in the global marketâ€.
The Trendy Awards intend to recognize “food manufacturers for their innovation, excellence, and exceptional expertise in product formulation and packagingâ€.
IFEX Philippines, as an annual government-led trade show for the food industry, serves as significant venue for the introduction of new products from small enterprises.
