He came, he saw, he conquered the hearts of his brethren.
That’s why tonight, though nursing a broken heart due to the “changing of the guards†in parish assignments, the Lindavillean flock will convene at the Parish Social Ground to pay tribute to their faithful shepherd who, for four solid years, transformed the parish into a center of religious activities.
Rev. Fr. Manuel Y. Mendez, outgoing parish priest of the Birhen sa Barangay Parish, will be the object of adulation during a despedida program in his honor. Parish lay leaders will take turn in heaping praises to this man of God.
The speakers include Judge Baudilio K. Dosdos, City Fiscal Conrado Supremo, Parish Pastoral Council Chair Greg Loayon, Parish Finance Council Chair Gus B. Pascual, K of C District Deputy and Loboc Municipal Councilor Glicerio Jubac and Lindaville Phase 1 Residents Association Prexy Nemie Monton.
Incoming parish vicar, Msgr. Oscar Pajo will grace the occasion and will also deliver words of inspiration.
The program to be hosted by Pascual and Jeanne Lumanas will be enlivened with musical numbers by the Lindaville Knights, the CWL Sr. and Jr. Dance Troupe, the El Shaddai Entertainers, the Cofradia de Santo Niño, the Senior Citizens, the Parish Youth Movement and the Twin Hearts.
In the climactic part of the parish shindig, the outspoken homilist will give his words of thanks and bid adieu to his flock. Pascual, K of C Grand Knight, will later award to the honoree a plaque of appreciation.
Fr. Mao is accredited for converting the religious community into a full-pledge parish with the support and cooperation of his ever-willing parishioners. Through the clergyman’s representation and assurance, the Lindavilleans will soon own the lot where their house of worship majestically stands. An initial P1.2 million will be funneled to the GSIS in order to put into realization a long cherished dream by the Catholic faithful – to have a land where the church is erected which they can proudly claim as their own.
With his departure to his new assignment – the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Taloto, this city, the Lindavilleans felt they lose a diligent worker but the beautiful memories they shared while working and praying with Fr. Mao, will last for a lifetime.
