The last batch of the nineteen eighties is geared up to hold its 20th grand reunion this year.
Set to be the vanguards of the eighties, High School Batch ’89 of Divine Word College (now Holy Name University) will hold their grand reunion on July 10, 11 and 12, 2009.
The 3-day affair is set to gather members of the batch coming from all over Bohol and all over the world.
Members of the batch now residing in the US, Europe, Middle East and from around Asia have confirmed their attendance.
Joining the gathering as Guests of Honor are the teachers and mentors of the batch.
Also slated to officiate the Holy Mass on the opening day is Fr. Jerome Cayetano, SVD who was then the Chaplain of the students during those years.
Members of the DWC Batch ’89 led by its Club President Roderick Alvarez will start the 3-day celebration with Registration at 5:30 pm Siglem, Bohol Tropics on July 10. This will be followed by a fellowship (Luau) dinner party complete with a live band. Day 2 will find the batch touching base with Bohol’s best spots when they tour the province’s top tourist destinations. The tour will kick off with a Motorcade in the city’s main thoroughfares. In the evening, a formal dinner will be held at the Metro Center Hotel which will be opened with an anticipated Mass to be celebrated by Fr. Jerome Cayetano. Day 3 is Family Time at the Beach where batch mates will have the time to relax, unwind and simply enjoy each other’s company.
The Grand Reunion will coincide with the Sandugo Festivities which commemorates the Blood Compact between Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Rajah Sikatuna. It will also allow members of the batch to join the Tigum Bol-anon, Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) Homecoming which celebrates friendships and family bonding.
