The new Dutch cabinet will not support the attempts to organize the 2028 Olympic Games in the Netherlands, which was stated in the coalition agreement of the Liberal Party VVD and Labor PvdA on Monday.

"We support the ambition to get Dutch sports on an Olympic level, without wanting to get the Olympic Games to the Netherlands, " said the report.

The previous government, also led by VVD leader Mark Rutte, was a strong supporter of organizing the Games in the Netherlands, one hundred years after the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam.

According to the VVD and PvdA, which reached an agreement to form a government on Monday, there is little support in society for the Games and the financial risks are too great.

The Olympic plan 2028 organization, with representatives from all sections of society, examines the opportunity to bid for the organization of the 2028 Games. A decision about the possible candidacy of the Netherlands will only be taken in 2016.

The bidding process starts in 2019 and in 2021 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will take a decision.

Dutch Olympic committee NOCNSF chairman Andre Bolhuis told TV channel NOS he understood the position of the new cabinet, which did not give its support given the economic situation.
