By Bohol Chronicle

Slumping Holy Spirit School Crusaders fortified their hold of the 3rd slot of the semi-final round when they dumped the cellar dwellers Bohol International Learning Center Phoenix, 74-32 in the main game of a twin bill in the ongoing high school competition of the 17th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 2nd John Geesnell Baba Yap inter School Hoop Cup at the BILC hard court.

The Crusaders showed their superiority in the strength as they blasted the host team as early as in the opening period when Pahang exploded with 12 points to overrun the opponents at the end of the canto 30-10. The Phoenix main man EJ Lacea could not carry the loads for his team even though he got 7 points in the same period as Pahang got able support from team mates Lui Besa, Patrock Rocha and Sumobay.

The Phoenix were miserably missing their targets as they allowed their opponents to widen the gap as the diminutive point guard Besa continued to fight like a fearless fighter as he poured in points in conspiracy with the lanky Maboloc and their ace gunner Patrick Rocha for the Crusaders to erect a 36 point margin, 58-22, going into the fourth period.

Meanwhile most improved Bohol International Learning Center mini Phoenix triumphed against the unpredictable new comer Holy Family of Nazareth School mini Nazarethanians in the elementary division to become the toughest team to put up a challenge against the powerhouse Holy Spirit School mini Crusaders which swept the elimination round with 6 wins in the field of 7 teams.

But Rico eyes said in an interview, “the basketball is round. And no one is going to be sure to winning. But all I can guarantee is that we have a clean basketball in mind.”

The wards of coach Aquilino Felicitas played brilliant basketball all game long to demolish the phoenix as Buddy Caseñas, Cabagnot, Sumobay and Talia joined the prey. The final score was 74-32.

The semi finals scheme of the tournament will see No. 1 plays No. 4 and the No. 2 matches 3. The semi finals were played last Saturday at the BWS gym. The winner will dispute the championship. And the losers will fight for 3rd place.
