The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) officially launched the Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) VILLASANBOPO, the first special ARC (SARC) in the town of President Carlos P. Garcia, in a ceremony on February 20 at Villa Milgrosa Club House in CPG.
It covers barangays Villa Milagrosa, San Vicente, Bogo and Popoo for which VILLASANBOPO stands for.
During the launching program, Dr. Antonio del Socorro, chief of the Support Services Office of DAR region 7, said that SARCs are land reform areas under special or distinct settings with limited or dismal development interventions which also requires customized development assistance considering its land scope, ARB density and poverty incidence.
Dr. del Socorro added that the launching of the SARC is anchored on the overriding national objectives of reducing poverty and spurring economic growth.
Generally, it shall serve as a complementary intervention strategy to the ARC Development Program to expand support services to reach more agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and other farmers, he said.
