Win-win solution for “habal-habal” drivers

by FRED. C. FUERTES

MARIBOJOC – Mayor Leoncio Evasco, Jr. convened Thursday some 50 tricycle and habal-habal drivers at the Parola Hall in the port area and gave them a win-win solution to their plight.

“I congratulate you because, instead of bothering my administration for work applications, you choose to earn your living thru your own efforts, thus spoke Evasco opened his talk. Evasco also encouraged the drivers’ group to organize themselves into an association so that it can have a voice of its own.

As a result, the Maribojoc Habal-habal League (Mahal) was born. Presided over by Municipal Councilor Gualberto “Macky” Melecio, the aggrupation elected the following officers: Mario Laborte, president; Jorge Balazuela, vice president;  Banban Balazuela, secretary; Monico Zamoras, treasurer; Vincent Tabancura, auditor and  Dodong Guirre, Rhamil Geolagon, Epil Bebero and Luis Estomata sgts.-at arms.

With this development, the terminal for “habal-Habal” motorcycles will soon be inaugurated and turned over to the organization.

Aside from Mayor Evasco, Sr. Municipal Councilor Fructuoso “Tusoy” Redulla, Jr. also revealed how the dynamic town executive vetoed Municipal Ordinance No. 25 which would have placed the drivers in a difficult situation.

Meanwhile, the members of the Maribojoc ECO Heritage, Culture and Arts Council (MEHTCAC) converged at the Sangguniang Bayan  Session Hall and discussed the group’s  activities in connection with the National Arts Month which is February.

A drawing, painting and photo-journalism contest is set come February 26, this year. A workshop on the three subject matter areas will precede the tilt.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
